David Walton

David Walton is a Senior Lecturer in Asian Studies and International Relations. His research interests are at the intersection of international relations and diplomatic history. David is particularly focused on post-war Australian foreign policy towards the Asia Pacific region and specifically Australia-Japan political and security relations. Prior to his appointment at UWS, David taught in the School of Asian and International Studies at Griffith University and the Department of Humanities at the University of Tasmania. David has been a visiting fellow at four universities in Japan (Seikei, Nanzan, Tokyo Keizai and Tokyo University).  In 2014, David was a visiting professor at the University of Seoul and then a Japan Foundation Fellow in the School of Law and Politics, Tokyo University. He is fascinated by the Asian region (and Japan in particular) and passionate about internationalising students through travel opportunities.
